Do I need a website if I have a Facebook page?

By Alex Hogan · Updated

The short answer

Usually, yes. A Facebook page is great for posting updates, but it rarely shows up when someone searches Google for your trade in your town, some visitors hit a login wall before they see your number, and AI assistants rarely cite it. A simple one-page website fixes that and works alongside Facebook.

What a Facebook page does well

It's free, quick to update, and good for showing recent work and staying in front of people who already know you.

Where it falls short

Search: when someone types "pool service near me" into Google, Facebook pages rarely show up. Websites and Google Business Profiles do.

Access: on some phones, visitors are asked to log in before they can see your phone number or hours, and many give up.

Ownership: you're renting space on Facebook. If your account gets locked or the rules change, your page goes with it.

First impressions: to a lot of customers, a real website reads as an established business.

What a simple website adds

A page Google can show for searches like "lawn care in Destin", a tap-to-call button, your service area and hours in plain view, and a link your Google Business Profile can point to. AI assistants like ChatGPT also pull from websites when they recommend local businesses.

Keep both

You don't have to choose. Link your Facebook page to your website and your website to Facebook. Facebook keeps people updated; the website gets you found and gets the call.

What it costs

A one-page website from Hogan Growth is $500, built from your existing Google listing and Facebook content, and typically live within a week of getting your details.
